To continue the tradition of what freaks me out, we’re at the second SchiZo Sketch today.
SchiZo Comment: Thomas wanted a creature of sorts with no eyes. I’m confident that this is not what he had in mind :)

The following story, or rather, the reaction to the following story shows the difference between my girlfriend and I. She loves these kind of stories, whilst I am unable to sleep for weeks because of them. It is shamelessly stolen from Creepypasta. A page with a lot of stories like this one. Thread wisely. Anyways, here’s the eerie story in question:

A man went to a hotel and walked up to the front desk to check in. The woman at the desk gave him his key and told him that on the way to his room, there was a door with no number that was locked and no one was allowed in there. Especially no one should look inside the room, under any circumstances. So he followed the instructions of the woman at the front desk, going straight to his room, and going to bed.

The next night his curiosity would not leave him alone about the room with no number on the door. He walked down the hall to the door and tried the handle. Sure enough it was locked. He bent down and looked through the wide keyhole. Cold air passed through it, chilling his eye. What he saw was a hotel bedroom, like his, and in the corner was a woman whose skin was completely white. She was leaning her head against the wall, facing away from the door. He stared in confusion for a while. He almost knocked on the door, out of curiosity, but decided not to.

This disinclination saved his life. He crept away from the door and walked back to his room. The next day, he returned to the door and looked through the wide keyhole. This time, all he saw was redness. He couldn’t make anything out besides a distinct red color, unmoving. Perhaps the inhabitants of the room knew he was spying the night before, and had blocked the keyhole with something red.

At this point he decided to consult the woman at the front desk for more information. She sighed and said, “Did you look through the keyhole?” The man told her that he had and she said, “Well, I might as well tell you the story. A long time ago, a man murdered his wife in that room, and her ghost haunts it. But these people were not ordinary. They were white all over, except for their eyes, which were red.”

Nice. Link to the story on Creepypasta: http://creepypasta.tumblr.com/post/144337815/a-man-went-to-a-hotel-and-walked-up-to-the-front

I’m a hummer. Most of times I have a song playing on repeat in my head. At times it’s great , other times -- not so great. Like now. A couple of months a go I stumbled across Auto-Tune the News on YouTube. Said months later and I’m still playing the Auto-Tune the News 24/7 concert in my head. I’m starting to get somewhat tired. However, perhaps this is some kind of viral thing. Perhaps I must ‘pass it on’? Well, I’m gonna try that. The part in question is the part where Katie Couric starts talking about the melting of the north pole. We find ourselves on very thin ice. Very Thin Ice. Very, very, very thin ice. Very Thin Ice. Surely you jest, I’m under cardiac arrest. We’re on very thin ice. It starts at 1:20. Enjoy. And don’t give this virus back to me. Thanks.

My girlfriend is an awesome artist, and I wanted her to use her talent more often! So we came up with the idea of me pitching her a new idea every week, and she drawing a sketch of that idea. I love the concept and will post the results right here, on my blog.

First out: the idea of a collision of the two BioWare worlds of Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Something from the future meets the fascinating idea of magic. Think of a robotic being wielding the powers of magic.

SchiZo Comment: At first ideas of robotic magicians spawned in my head, but then Thomas had to say something about Legion. This is Legion in all his magical glory.

And we’re back! My last attempt at actually keeping the log(and the workout) going failed because of christmas! Excuses, excuses. Oh well, I’m giving it a new serious go. I’ve even created this little script thingy, which makes it easierfor me to keep track of my activities! Anywho, last sunday I started by weighing my slender body, and after a grand total of two trips to the gym I’ve made serious progress. Let’s hope this kind of progress continues every week until summer. Woo. That would be great. This log is weight in kgs only though, but I’m actually spending a lot of time on different muscle building machines as well. Oh well, decrease in weight is my most important goal. Hopefully it’ll turn out great. Week 1 sure did.

Week 1 and I went to the gym a grand total of 2 times. The result:

-2.4!

A big, fat green number. Good times.

So Google finally released a new build of Google Chrome for the Mac this week, sporting a much needed bookmark manager and even better; full support for extensions. Good times. Google Chrome is by far my favorite OSX browser – it’s faster, better, less of a resource-hog and hey, it’s a Google product. We all love Google, right? Right?!

Anywho, I’ve given a lot of extensions some extensive testing, here’s my personal list of 5 absolutely crucial extensions!

AdBlock (with Browser Button)

Finally, ads are no longer an issue. My mission to rid the world of those pesky Evony ads has come to an end. Fine by me. This ad seamlessly removes ads and lets you browse the web without any interruptions. Fantastic and an extension every browser needs. link to adblock / adblock button

Smooth Gestures

The one and only reason for me praising Opera as the best browser for years. When I first encountered the Mouse Gestures of Opera it was like an epiphany – browsing made so much simpler. With a flick of the wrist you have total control of everything you need to do within a browser. This is another must in optimizing your browsing experience. Simply right click and do a gesture. Plus for being extremely customizable. link to Smooth Gestures

Digg for Chrome

A procrastinator’s best friend. It is the official Digg extension, it let’s you digg items directly from its icon and also has a fantastic ‘random’ option. I’ve never used Digg extensively, I’m predicting this will change now – another great extension. link to Digg for Chrome

Chromed Bird

A Twitter Client. I’ve played around with this extension for some time now and I suspect I may have to delete Tweetie. Chromed Bird looks great and has full support for favorites, direct messages, replies, retweets, etc. My first impression is very good. link to Chromed Bird

Google Share Button / Google Dictionary

The Google Share Button is a must if you like to share whatever you come across of interest. Allows you to share to whatever site you are using – Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, Digg, Gmail, and many many more. // Google Dictionary is a small plugin that will give you definitions of whatever words you double click. Quick, easy and simple. A great little tool. link to share button / google dictionary

Please do share if there are any extensions I’ve left out or if you have any recommendations!

I’m a gamer. Sure am, and I have this here blog of mine, so why not sum up the year of 2009 by my favorite games? I’ve played pretty much all the biggest titles of 2009 by now, so here’s my round up! (Hint: All the games, except two, are Xbox 360 games)

# 6 – 10 These Didn’t Quite Make The Cut

Forza Motorsport 3. If you like cars and games there’s no need to look elsewhere. This is the best of the best, the top of the tops. A plethora of cars and tracks, combined with a much better single player experience than its predecessor(s) makes this car simulator a fantastic racing experience. Looks and runs great. The best Racing Sim to date.

NHL10 & FIFA10. Here’s a twofer. Say what you want about these annual sports games, but both these 2010 versions were absolutely fantastic. The feel of the game, the pace, the dedication. They both have it all. I couldn’t possibly choose between these, these are the two best sports simulators on consoles. It’ll be very interesting to see how the 2011 versions will pan out.

Uncharted 2. The only PlayStation 3 game on my list. And I’m not even sure that it deserves a spot. Granted, I haven’t completed it yet, so I’m assuming that it’ll be a lot better than what I’ve come across so far. However, Uncharted (1) was a really good game for me. It came to me as a green savior in my bleek brown-darkish-grey “next gen” gaming world. Uncharted 2 Among Thieves still delivers with a lot of green, but that’s no longer enough! Green lush forests aside, it is a solid game – this time also with an online component I’ve yet to try.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Simply put: The Single Player is fast-paced, action-packed, a lot of fun, but utterly short. It is in the multiplayer compartment Modern Warfare 2 shines. However, it doesn’t shine as bright as the first Modern Warfare did. The perks are better this time, the kill streaks rewards are cool – but the maps aren’t as good as they were the first time around.

Football Manager 2010. I am a sports junkie, and football in particular. I’ve spent an extremer amount of hours in this game – it is hugely addictive. The only PC game in my list, could just’ve easily been in the top 5, but the competition was too tough.

#5 – The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

From Xbox Live Arcade. The first installment of the games involving Guybrush Threepwood has been remade to utter perfection. The content hasn’t changed – the presentation has. The jokes are still funny, the gameplay still works and insult fighting has never looked prettier. This game is Complete. I eagerly await the remake of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Come on LucasArts, make it be! –Wikipedia.

#4 – Borderlands

Trine bought this game and we’ve played it an insane amount, both of us doing every achievement and every quest. Although the ending is very underwhelming, everything else is pure fun. I haven’t tried playing it solo, but as a local co-op game this is as good as it gets. Extremely satisfying – extremely fun. –Wikipedia.

#3 – Batman: Arkham’s Asylum

The surprise of the year. The combat in this game is so great it would’ve made top 5 on its own. Combine fantastic combat with great level design and the gadgets of Bruce Wayne’s hefty budget and you have a winning recipe for a great game. Still playing it, and probably will for a long time. –Wikipedia.

#2 – Dragon Age: Origins

Everything I expected – and more. Developed by BioWare, creators of SW:KOTOR and Mass Effect, I was anticipating this for a long time, and boy did they deliver. The story is great, the world is huuuge (both in lore, content and size) and the diversity of game classes/races/story choices keeps me coming back long into 2010. I’m unable to put this game away. –Wikipedia.

#1 – Assassin’s Creed 2

Ezio Auditore is my new hero. He has it all. And so does this game, it is a massive game. The fighting is great (although not as good as Batman), the story is good, the world is created with an astonishing amount of detail, the climbing is awesome, the side stories are very well executed — I could go on forever. I absolutely love this game. I spent ten hours straight completing it and gathering everyone of the 100 feathers spread across Italy. I couldn’t simply give this game enough praise, it is perhaps even one of the best games of the decade. Well done, Ubisoft, this is gaming perfected. Buy this game, now. –Wikipedia.

This actually turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. And there are sadly a couple of games I haven’t played. Brütal Legend being a significant one. All MMOs being others.

## Honorable Mentions ##

DJ Hero. Street Fighter IV. Left 4 Dead 2. The Beatles: Rock Band. Fight Night: Round 4. Resident Evil 5. Halo 3: ODST.

All great games I’ve spent a considerable amount of time with, however, for different reasons they quite didn’t reach the top. Even so; Resident Evil 5 is a beautiful game I’d recommend to anyone able to play it in local co-op.

There you have it, my list. And phew, this was really hard to create. If you feel I’m dead wrong, or if you agree, please do leave a comment! Let 2010 begin!
